2024 Free Agents - Onuralp Bitim

Summary
After some productive seasons overseas, Bitim signed with the Bulls on a two-way contract for the '23-'24 season, which was later converted into a standard contract.

Bitim was productive in the G-League, scoring nearly 17 points per game on 43% 3-point shooting. Unfortunately for Bitim, that level of shooting did not continue in his NBA minutes. In 20 games, he only hit 11 of his 35 threes, or 31%.

At 25 years old, Bitim is not a young prospect that you would expect to make huge strides. However, we have seen international players take a year or two to adjust to the NBA, and be successful after struggling early.

Cap Considerations
Bitim's $1.9 million salary for 2024-2025 is non-guaranteed, and if he is waived he will become an unrestricted free agent and the Bulls will have no form of Bird rights on him. If he is waived, teams could claim him off waivers, but would need to fit his salary within cap space or an exception to do so, as his contract doesn't fit within the minimum salary exception as it was a three-year contract.

If Bitim becomes a free agent, other teams will have multiple ways to sign him as even teams without cap space could use any of the Non-Taxpayer MLE, Room MLE, Taxpayer MLE, or Bi-Annual Exception to sign him. If Bitim is waived and clears waivers, his value will likely have dropped low enough that he would only have offers for the minimum, and he may not even get fully-guaranteed offers.

Potential Teams: Bulls, Hornets, Spurs, Pistons, Jazz

Predicted Contract: 1-year, $1.9 million (non-guaranteed) with the Bulls
