Cauley-Stein will be a restricted free agent this summer, which could really hurt his earning potential. It's unlikely any team will want to sign him to a big offer sheet, so his best chance at a sizeable contract is with Sacramento.
If the Kings feel that Marvin Bagley and Harry Giles are their bigs of the future, they might really play hardball with the former Kentucky Wildcat. Cauley-Stein will have a decent $6.3 million as the Qualifying Offer, which he may end up settling for and entering unrestricted free agency in 2020.
Potential Teams: Kings, Wizards, Pelicans,
Predicted Contract: 1-year, $6.3 million with the Kings
*Actual Contract: 2-year, $4.5 million (player option) with the Warriors.

Despite becoming an unrestricted free agent, Cauley-Stein was unable to get any significant offers, so he settled for a deal slightly over the minimum with Golden State. If he plays well, he could become a free agent again in 2020, but the Warriors may struggle to retain him since they will only has in Non-Bird rights.
