Ennis has a $1.845 million player option for next season, and since Ennis's minimum salary this summer will be $1.880 million, he should opt out. If Ennis's agent thinks no team will even offer Ennis a fully-guaranteed minimum, he'll suggest Ennis opt in. After failing to provide value at the wing for the Rockets, Ennis played well coming off the bench for the 76ers, who certainly need depth at that position.

The 76ers will only have Non-Bird rights on Ennis, which means they can only off him a contract starting at $2.3 million using the Non-Bird Exception. Alternatively, the 76ers could bring back Ennis using cap space (if Harris or Butler leave in free agency) or using the Mid-Level Exception.
Potential Teams: Bulls, Hornets, Pistons, Pacers, Suns
Predicted Contract: 1-year, $2.3 million with the 76ers
*Actual Contract: 2-year, $4 million (2nd year player option) with the 76ers.

I was surprised to see Ennis only get the minimum, especially since Philly could have offered him slightly above that using their Non-Bird rights without his cap hit increasing by much. Getting a player option on the second year makes it a better contract for Ennis.
