2022 Free Agents - Isaiah Joe

Summary
Joe was the #49 pick in the 2020 draft, and is known for being a shooter. He has shot a respectable 37% from three during his first two seasons, but probably needs to hit above 40% if he's going to make an impact in the NBA, as he doesn't do much else. His assist rate is tiny, and every one of Joe's three-pointers have been assisted, so he's not a shot creator either. At 6'4" and very thin, Joe will likely struggle defending bigger wings unless he is able to put on some weight.

If Joe can learn from former 76er J.J. Redick and become an elite shooter, he'll be able to stick around in the league. He didn't get too many minutes on this 76ers team that had title aspirations, but he has probably shown enough for the 76ers to give him another year, especially with them being out a shooter in the injured Danny Green.

Cap Considerations
Joe's $1.8 million salary for 2022-2023 is non-guaranteed, and if he is waived he will become an unrestricted free agent and the 76ers will have no form of Bird rights on him.

If he is waived, teams could claim him off waivers, but would need to fit his salary within cap space or an exception to do so, as his contract doesn't fit within the minimum salary exception as it was a three-year contract.

If Joe becomes a free agent, other teams will have multiple ways to sign him as even teams without cap space could use any of the Non-Taxpayer MLE, Taxpayer MLE, or possibly even the Room MLE or Bi-Annual Exception to sign him. If Joe is waived and clears waivers, his value will likely have dropped low enough that he would only have offers for the minimum.

Potential Teams: 76ers, Magic, Pistons, Bucks, Grizzlies

Predicted Contract: Not waived: $1.8 million
If waived: 1-year, $1.8 million with the Magic
