2025 Free Agents - Johnny Juzang

After going undrafted in the 2022 NBA Draft, Juzang signed a two-way contract with the Jazz, and was able to finally get a standard NBA contract a couple years later in 2024. Most of Juzang's minutes have come late in the season when the Jazz were resting players and pretty much in tank mode. Juzang is a wing with good size at 6'7", but he's a below-average athlete for NBA standards. He been productive in the G-League, averaging over 20 points per game on decent efficiency. He has hit 37% of his 3s in the NBA and G-League combined, which is a solid number. He has been fairly effective inside the arc as well, and is a very good free throw shooter. Juzang's below-average athleticism shows on defense. He isn't disruptive at all, posting very low steal and block rates. Luckily for him, his size can make up for that. If puts in enough effort and stays attentive to be in the right spot consistently, he could be a good defender. Juzang will ber 24 years old as a potential free agent in 2025, so he's still fairly young but probably won't be seen as a prospect with a lot of potential for upside. There's a chance he could become a decent role player, but we just need to see more to be sure about that. It will be interesting to see how many minutes he gets in '24-'25, as the Jazz have a lot of other young talent they want to develop.

Summary

Juzang's $2.8 million salary for 2025-2026 is non-guaranteed, and if he is waived he will become an unrestricted free agent and the Jazz will have no form of Bird rights on him. If he is waived, teams could claim him off waivers, but would need to fit his salary within cap space or an exception to do so, as his contract doesn't fit within the minimum salary exception as it was a four-year contract and slightly above the minimum salary. If Juzang becomes a free agent, other teams will have multiple ways to sign him as even teams without cap space could use any of the Non-Taxpayer MLE, Room MLE, Taxpayer MLE, or Bi-Annual Exception to sign him. If Juzang is waived and clears waivers, his value will likely have dropped low enough that he would only have offers for the minimum, and he may not even get fully-guaranteed offers.

Cap Considerations

Chuma Okeke (1 year minimum, non-guaranteed, 2024) Dante Exum (2-1 years, $6 million, 2023) Nassir Little (1 year minimum, non-guaranteed, 2024)

Player/Contract Comparison

Potential Teams: Hawks, Jazz, Wizards, Nets, 76ers

Predicted Contract: 1-year, $2.4 million (non-guaranteed) with the Hawks
