Charlotte Hornets - 2025 Offseason Preview

Max Cap Room
$30.2 million, not including their 1st round pick
$8.8 million Room Mid-Level Exception

Potential Free Agents

  • Tre Mann ($14.7 million cap hold, $7 million Qualifying Offer, Full Bird Rights, Restricted)

  • Vasilije Micic ($8.1 million team option, $10 million cap hold, Early Bird Rights, Restricted)

  • Cody Martin ($8.7 million non-guaranteed salary)

  • Nick Richards ($5 million non-guaranteed salary)

  • Seth Curry ($2.3 million cap hold, Early Bird Rights, Unrestricted)

  • Taj Gibson ($2.3 million cap hold, Non-Bird Rights, Unrestricted)

Summary

The Hornets could have roughly $30 million in cap space (not including their first round pick), but retaining or re-signing any of their own potential free agents would cut into that. They also could end up operating over the cap.

If Martin and Richards are retained, the Hornets will have about $55 million below the luxury tax with 10 players under contract (not including their first round pick), which might be enough to re-sign their own key free agents while still having the $14.1 million Non-Taxpayer MLE and the $5.1 million Bi-Annual Exception to add talent, if they end up operating over the cap.
