Summary
Barring any major trades, the Cavs are unlikely to have a meaningful amount of cap space, even if they lose all their potential free agents. Therefore, they are most likely to operate over the cap. If Merrill and Porter are retained, the Cavs will have about $10.5 million in space below the luxury tax and $17 million below the first apron with only 12 players under contract.
The Cavs will likely be choosing between re-signing Okoro and using the full $12.9 million MLE. If they are willing to go into the luxury tax, they could also potentially use the $4.7 million BAE and remain below the first apron.
